Shoots hold steady

Boosted by a successful training session on Monday the Bamboo Shoots transferred their preparation to the court in a convincing 53-21 victory against St Agnes 5 at Truro tonight.

Captain Niki Bellenger was clearly delighted with her 8-strong squad who all played their part in bringing home a much needed win.

"We're turning into a tight knit team and our work on Monday and in particular the focus on our centre passes paid dividends tonight," said Niki. "I'm really enjoying working closely with our coach Ashley Hogg and it was her strategic switch of positions in the final 15 minutes which resulted in our strongest quarter."

For the second consecutive match it was GS/GA Emma Margaret who secured the opposition player of the match.

Emma has worked hard in training to forge a strong partnership with Niki Bellenger and this combination have found a good harmony in the shooting circle.

And showing her versatility Niki Bellenger switched to GK for the final quarter proving influential on the scoresheet with St Agnes 5 increasing their tally by just two goals.

At the other end of the court Emma Margaret teamed up with Laura Ann Risdon for the final 15 minutes with this pairing producing our strongest scoring quarter.

This was a win built on teamwork with solid performances from every player - congratulations going to Hayley Williams; Jenna Whitehead; Sarah-Jane Cornwell; Emily Parr and Ashley Hogg.

And a massive thanks to our Umpire Jackie Walker for officiating so well and to the young players of St Agnes 5 who gave us such a clean and enjoyable match.
