Shoots still growing

The Bamboo Shoots showed what this club is all about tonight - playing with pride and fighting until the final whistle even when the going is tough.

There was so much good on the court tonight in our match against Bodmin 4 whose young fit team - the future of the sport playing with the wonderful bravado of youth and not a care in the world.

And highlighting the diversity and love of netball our Shoots holding down full-time careers, family commitments, caring for young children and finding time to train and represent the club.

Bryony Marie's choice of player of the night epitomises this team with three young children and a full time job - albeit a very supportive husband! Sarah-Jane Cornwell you deserve the recognition because you never gave up the work-rate and were in the right place at the right time until the final whistle. Your commitment to the team has been amazing with your daughter only now coming up to her first birthday.

That's why I was so proud of this performance because these girls kept fighting and in doing so shortened the goal difference after every quarter.

Yes we lost 68-30 and well done to Bodmin but it's also well done to the Shoots for keeping your heads up, remaining positive under pressure and ending your first season with a massive smile on your faces.

A massive thank you to Jackie Walker and Jenna Smith, our wonderful umpires who did such a great job tonight. And to Julie Emery for helping me score and supporting our club so avidly.

Have a good rest now girls and start looking forward to next season.
